I did a guest writing spot for the Cathy comic strip. This is based on a true story.

Demon City Shinjuku…best anime ever? Maybe not. Great anime movie? Yes. What is it about it that is so great? It’s honestly hard to say. The movie follows a plot line that is somewhat cliche. The characters are pretty basic archetypes. Yet, the way it tells the story, and the dialogue it gives to the characters really make it incredible.

The animation is without a doubt one of the best examples of how incredible the format can be. It was made right in that time before CG but in the prime of hand-drawn animation and it shows.

I liken this movie to something like Commando. That’s right. The Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle Commando. Was the movie a little generic and at times questionable in quality? Sure. No denying that. But yet there is something about the film that truly sets it apart from the forgettable crap that is spewed out every other month. There is a special quality that shines forth that allows you to enjoy this movie over and over again each time you see it. Its great storytelling busting out of the cliche plot that makes you realize it is something special.

Give the film a chance, I say. It has a great more deal of depth and engaging storytelling then a lot of the other crap that has come out since.

Why did I create this review? Well I have been drinking a bit. Also, I thought of the movie, and looked it up to read some reviews. I noticed that almost unanimously this movie has been badmouthed by reviewers despite my thoughts that it was widely considered a classic. So I wrote this so that the Wikipedia article can redirect to it and show that someone gave it a positive review. Hooray.

Hey all you people that don’t pay any attention to what is being posted here, I made another video. Now I know what you are thinking, “I sure wish Who’s the Boss would get put on DVD.” Well it has been, ya dope! Go get it!

Anyways, back to the video I made. That is it above this text. Chances are if anyone was interested in watching it, they probably did it before reading this. So no need to explain.
